Psalms of Planets

Longing to remember my first time behind the lens has been: a fulfilling, a confusing, and a challenging experience. My father was a photographer, in his own right, during his early years in this country. Both my parents have artistic views, which rubbed off on my siblings and I; the fields our hearts desires is that of art, ranging from literary writing to reviving the old masters through painting. Although I have my own shortcomings, my inability to draw a straight line (a little exaggeration but it gets my curvy point across), I always admired cameras and their likeness to the way our minds store and process imagery. The way I see things in my mind, film has a better way of capturing it than digital. Not that I have anything against digital – I prefer the grainier feel pre-editing that film gives. But that’s definitely a discussion for another post.

I’ve been a loyal fan of Yashica since my friend Jermaine introduced me to their Electro 35 model. It needs a little repair, and I can’t wait to document that adventure. My current weapon of choice has been the Yashica FX-3. The interchangeable lenses are a treat along with the exposure LED indicator. Offering extra confidence in those rarely unsure moments. I have tons and tons of film to develop and once I get them back I’ll be sure to share.
